Green Vacations

Why go green?

With nearly 1 billion tourists crisscrossing the globe every year, it's more important than ever for travelers to minimize their individual impact on the earth's natural and cultural treasures. The potential negative effects of tourism are both local and global;carbon dioxide emissions from planes are a growing contributor to global warming.

Taking a low-carbon vacation this summer will be a cheaper for you, and for the planet, too. Here the cabins have no air conditioning or tv, and fireplaces provide heat should you get cold in the evening.

We want to preserve the beauty of New Hampshire for generations to come, just as generations have vacationed here before us.

Here are some tips on making your stay here green

Think locally

When you choose a restaurant, instead of putting your vacation money into big chains. We source as much as we can from local farmers. If you are going on a picnic , pack it in a basket with reusable plates and utensils, not plastic foam or plastic bags. And, of course, properly dispose of all waste. That way, the only footprints you'll leave behind will be the ones made by your feet.

Conserve Resources

Do your part to conserve water and soap by requesting not to have linens and towels changed every day. The local water is safe to drink, bring a reusable water container so that you won't have to purchase one.

Recycle

Use our recycling facilities.
